About Us

Hometree began in a small community garden project during the winter of 2014, where we saw firsthand how crucial it is for people to connect with nature. Over the years, we have planted hundreds of thousands of trees, including pioneer species like Scots pine, willow, and alder, alongside a diverse range of native Irish trees. These efforts have been supported by volunteers, landowners, farmers, and communities who share our vision of restoring Ireland’s landscapes with thriving woodlands that benefit biodiversity, climate resilience, and well-being.

Today, Hometree is a dynamic organisation focused not just on tree planting, but on fostering deeper connections between people and nature. We actively engage in transformative projects, including native woodland restoration, biodiversity conservation, and climate action initiatives. Our most ambitious project to date is the Wild Atlantic Rainforest Project, 4,000 acres of restoration along the west coast.

Our funding comes from a wide range of supporters, including individuals, businesses, corporates, and government bodies. Notable partnerships with companies like Celtic Fusion, The Canopy, and Lifes2good, alongside many other startups and multinational organisations, showcase the collaborative spirit that drives Hometree’s mission. Additionally, we work closely with the Department of Agriculture and other key stakeholders to amplify our impact.

Hometree has also played a pivotal role in connecting communities through education and awareness programs, inspiring stewardship and fostering a sense of responsibility for the natural world. Our recent initiatives include collaborating on large-scale restoration projects, such as a solar farm rewilding project, and preparing case studies to showcase the tangible impacts of our work.

As we look ahead, Hometree remains committed to addressing Ireland’s biodiversity loss and climate challenges through innovation, collaboration, and a steadfast dedication to our core mission: restoring native woodlands and reimagining a harmonious relationship between people and nature.
